About Basil
Basil holds a dual identity in India — as Holy Basil (Tulsi) it is one of the most sacred plants in Hinduism and Ayurveda; as Sweet Basil it is the foundation of Italian cuisine. Both varieties grow across India. The name comes from Greek basileus meaning "king" — reflecting its ancient royal status as food and medicine.
