About Pomegranate
Anardana (dried pomegranate arils) is a uniquely Indian souring spice — wild pomegranate seeds from the Himalayan foothills are dried to create an intensely tart, fruity souring agent. Provides a distinctly different sourness from tamarind or amchoor. Essential in North Indian and Punjabi cooking.
Health Benefits
- Punicalagins — unique antioxidants three times the power of red wine
- High polyphenol content shown to reduce prostate cancer risk in research
- Anti-inflammatory — reduces markers of inflammation better than most fruits
- Supports memory, cognition and brain health in emerging research
Culinary & Industrial Uses
- North Indian chole (chickpea curry) — anardana provides essential tartness
- Stuffed parathas and Punjabi aloo gobi preparations
- Chaat masala blend — key sour-tangy note
- Anardana chutney for kebabs and chaats
Processing & Grades
Wild pomegranate seeds from Himalayan hill varieties (more tart than commercial pomegranate) hand-harvested and sun-dried. Available as whole dried seeds or powder.
